O trabalho parte de uma letra cifrada da música "Luíza", de Tom Jobim, que eu usei em 2004 para estudar esta canção, na época em que fazia curso de teoria musical e canto. As marcações e rabiscos no papel nunca foram feitas com intenções estéticas -- eram sinalizações com finalidade meramente prática, indicações do meu processo de estudo, como passagens que eu precisava revisar, indicações de dinâmica, intenções, pontos de respiração, contagem de tempo, etc.

Quando em 2006 eu reencontrei esta partitura pessoal, achei o desenho que se formou tão intenso, que resolvi torná-lo independente da letra da música. A partitura foi digitalizada, e a letra e cifras da música foram digitalmente apagadas, exceto pelas palavras que indicam imagens, formas, cores, e a repetição da palavra "desejo", que é o motor da canção, e no final, o motor de tudo que realizamos na vida.

O vídeo reflete a partitura apagada, permanecendo em negativo e sem áudio quase o tempo todo, exceto quando Tom Jobim canta as palavras que permaneceram como parte do desenho. Nestes pontos, o vídeo aparece pleno, em imagem e som.

The work arose from a printed sheet with the "Luiza" by Tom Jobim song's lyrics, which I used in 2004 to study this song at the time I was undertaking classes on music theory and singing. The marks and scribbles on the paper have never been made ​​with aesthetic intentions - they were merely signs with practical purpose, indications of my study process, as I needed to revise passages, mark changings on the song's dynamic, intentions, points of breathing, timing, etc.

When in 2006 I reencountered this personal musical score, I thought that the drawing formed over the lyrics was so intense that I decided to make it independent of the lyrics. The score was digitized, and the lyrics and chords of the song were digitally erased, except for the words that indicate images, shapes, colors, and the repetition of the word "desire" that drives the song, and in the end, it's the engine of everything we want to accomplish in life.

The video reflects the score, remaining in negative and muted almost all the time, except when Tom Jobim sings the words that remained as part of the drawing. At these points, the video appears normal, with picture and sound.
